WEPA is the Willoughby Environmental Protection Association. We are a small community based group with an interest in environmental protection. Whilst our primary interest is the City of Willoughby on the North Shore of Sydney, our members are also involved with environmental matters at state and National levels. WEPA organises speaker meetings on a range of topics, lobbies Local, State and Federal Politicians, comments on plans and proposals before Local Government, has representatives on Local Government committees, supports community events and runs a major bush regeneration project along Sugarloaf Creek near Middle Harbour.

The City of Willoughby is situated on the North Shore of Sydney. It comprises the suburbs of Chatswood, Artarmon, Naremburn, St Leonards, Northbridge, Castlecrag, Middle Cove and Castle Cove.It is bordered to the East by Middle Harbour and to the West by the Lane Cove River. These waterways and their tributaries have a major impact on the City, having led to the preservation of several significant areas of remnant native bushland in some of the most spectacular locations in inner Sydney.

WEPA originally started as a community response to the gradual degradation of this irreplaceable natural heritage. In recent years Willoughby City Council has become most progressive in looking after the natural environment and has taken on much of the work previously undertaken by WEPA. Our members continue to assist Council through cooperative participation in a range of local initiatives.
